Documentary practice
During the Christmas holidays I had the incredible luck of getting to go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Tanzania on safari! I thought that it would be a wonderful chance to practice some documentary-style photography. Although photography is not my main line of work for my final project, the concept of framing and shooting an image in time to capture exactly what it is you want to show is the same for film as it is for still imagery. Here are some of the shots I am proudest of:
More than anything, this experience has taught me to always be prepared, you could end up in a situation where you could take amazing shots and not have your camera with you. One day we went out on safari and I didnt have my camera charged and missed the whole process of a cheetah kill. As you can imagine I was devistated! I have decided that I must always have my camera ready at hand at all times, so that I can always capture a moment, whether it be still, moving or audio.
